Almost every day the question comes up: how much would it cost for me to build a house? Naturally, that is a loaded question to ask a builder, but my answer is typically the same: how much do you want to spend?
Our business is structured in that we build all of our homes on a time and materials basis. This means you pay what we pay for everything and offers us ample opportunity during construction to add value engineering where applicable. I usually use a starting point of $150 per square foot of building cost. We can build a very quality and beautiful home for this price point all day long. The biggest variables are always determined by the homeowner; i.e. plumbing and lighting fixtures, cabinets, windows, flooring, etc. The finishes are what drive the train for the final cost of building your house.
We are extremely budget conscious when it comes to your overall cost. At every phase of construction we lay out three options: under budget, budgeted, and over budget. At the same time, we give you an updated status on where your budget stands monthly so that you can be equally as conscious as to where you stand. We physically take you to the tile supplier; counter top manufacturer, lighting and hardware showroom and help you make as educated a decision as possible for every phase of your project. There are no secrets, no hidden costs. We even leave our profit on the top until the final bill in an effort to show our sincerity; we’re not finished until you’re moved in, happy, and all is good! The idea of building a new house is not supposed to scare you away, it’s supposed to excite you in the idea that you can get exactly what you want for the amount you want to spend.
